My 101 in 1001/Day Zero

I've decided to begin the 101 in 1001 Project. It's a really cool idea someone had that's basically like your New Year's resolutions except instead of giving yourself a year to do them, you take 1001 days, which comes out to roughly 2.75 years, to do them.

Here's the synopsis of it:

The Mission:Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria:Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).

Why 1001 Days? Many people have created lists in the past - frequently simple goals such as New Year's resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organising and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.

I was going to call September 10th my starting date since that's my 30th birthday. But then I thought, Why wait any longer to start? Being the procrastinator I am, I figured it was just a way to give myself a reason to put off doing something.

So. Here I go.

Hi!

Are you going to list your 101 items publicly? Or just keep track on your own?

Sounds like a grand idea, but then it sure seems like a lot things to try to do......maybe if I put all my "honey do lists" together I would have 101 things.

Genia... I do plan to publish my list. I haven't gotten to 101 things yet, only about 80 so far. I've seen some people use a generic "to be set later" or "Make a new goal/task/thing in (month)" on their lists. I've been thinking about doing that since I feel like I'm running out of ideas for things that I feel are *worthy* of my list.

I also thought it seemed like a huge number of items to come up with but then I started reading other people's lists (on the Day Zero home page) and got many great ideas from those. It's funny, until I read someone else's list that said "Teach someone to knit", it never crossed my mind to put that on my list!

I'm enjoying it already. I can't say I've been following through on all my daily to do's but I am trying. And that's good for something, right? LOL

You should definitely check it out. http://triplux.com/dayzero/
